The essentials
- A username purchase does not transfer an account, audience or brand rights.
- Bids and purchases involve different commitments.
- After acquiring it, verify assignment and the working link.
You are buying a name, not an account
A collectible username helps people find a profile, group or channel and provides a Telegram link. Its ownership is recorded on TON, while assignment to a particular Telegram destination is separate. Buying it does not transfer messages, subscribers, the previous owner’s reputation or rights to someone else’s brand. An offer for a “username plus account access” is a different, riskier transaction. For an ordinary project, first consider whether a suitable available basic username would meet your needs without a collectible purchase.

Find the exact name on the genuine site
Open fragment.com using an address verified through Telegram rather than a sponsored result or seller’s message. Search for the exact username and inspect its page. Compare every character: visually similar names may identify different items. A page’s existence does not mean the username is currently for sale. Review its status, acquisition route and available history. Do not substitute a profile screenshot for ownership verification: using a name and owning the collectible are not the same.
Prepare a wallet and complete budget
Operations on TON use the native GRAM coin. Prepare a compatible wallet you control and establish recovery arrangements beforehand. The item’s displayed price may not include every cost: read the marketplace terms and wallet confirmation. Keep a reserve for network operations and any later assignment steps. Do not rely on an old fee quoted by someone else. If Fragment requests additional verification or is unavailable in your circumstances, clarify the conditions first rather than using another person’s details or dubious workarounds.
Distinguish bidding from buying
Before confirming, establish whether you are buying at a stated price or placing a bid. For an auction, read the current deadline, extension rules, losing-bid return conditions and winner obligations in the live interface. Do not assume a confirmed bid can simply be cancelled. Set a maximum total cost before bidding and do not raise it merely to win. A fixed-price purchase still requires checking the item, recipient and wallet operation; the absence of bidding does not remove those checks.
Example: a name for a small publication
A small publication is choosing between a clear free username and a short collectible one. The team decides in advance what link convenience is worth and sets a separate spending ceiling with an operational reserve. If bidding exceeds it, they keep the free option and can still publish. If they purchase, they verify ownership before updating website links. The important sequence is a working address first, then optional convenience, not a promise that a short name will automatically attract readers.
Assign the name after acquiring it
Confirm that the acquired item belongs to your wallet, then use Fragment’s assignment action for the intended account, channel or other supported destination you control. In Telegram, check activation and display order if several usernames are present. Ownership alone does not prove that the new link already opens the correct channel. Test it separately, preferably from another authorised account. Only then update public contact details and tell readers about the new address.
If the name does not appear
Check which wallet is connected to Fragment and which Telegram account was selected for assignment. Ensure the name is active rather than merely listed among your assets. If the purchase is still processing, inspect the transaction before paying again. Keep the item link and transaction identifier for an error report. Do not give anyone account access for “manual linking.” For a service-policy problem, contact official support without sharing your password or recovery phrase.
Protect the name after assignment
Protect both the owning wallet and the Telegram account because they serve different roles. A recognisable public link attracts scammers as well as readers. Do not sign a “brand verification” request that transfers the asset or grants unexpected authority. Before selling or moving the name, list the links that need updating so readers do not reach a new owner through old material. A collectible name can be useful as an address; its future price and resale speed remain uncertain.
Test the address in real use
Ask a colleague to open the new link from an ordinary message and verify the destination. Check old contact details in the channel description, pinned post and website footer. Do not retire the previous working route before confirming the new one. A name held for a future project still requires wallet protection even while unassigned. Record who is responsible for the asset so updating links cannot accidentally become an ownership transfer.
